Commodore VE Sedan & Sportwagon

« Back to New Cars

The VE Commodore is the first Commodore designed from the ground up for Australian drivers and Australian driving conditions. It is, quite simply, the best car Holden have ever built. It features a longer wheelbase and wider track, two 3.6 six cylinder Alloytec engines, a new GEN4 6.0 litre V8, with new transmissions. But improvements go much deeper than what you can see on the showroom floor.

Holden has reinforced its commitment to safety and value by adding Omega, Berlina, SV6 and SS to the range of models that have side impact and curtain airbags standard.

Omega sedan also gains air-conditioning, alloy wheels, body colour exterior door handles and mirror covers and an all-new grille treatment.

Electronic stability control (ESC) improves vehicle safety performance in situations that require emergency response for collision avoidance. It achieves this by correcting vehicle paths through individual wheel brake applications and engine torque management.

It includes the latest generation Bosch 8 anti-lock braking system (ABS). ESP is standard right across the Commodore sedan range.

Traction control is designed to minimise slippage during acceleration. TC recognises if either rear wheel has insufficient grip and adjusts drive force and brake force accordingly.

During heavy braking on curves or corners a Corner Brake Control (CBC) function is activated. CBC senses different wheel rotational speeds and co-ordinates the brakes as they are applied to individual wheels so that vehicle stability is maintained.

Electronic Brake Assist (EBA) is on all ESP equipped models and monitors how hard and fast the driver hits the brake pedal thus determining whether additional brake assistance is required.

Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) is standard on all Commodore and Statesman sedans. It transfers brake torque between axles, providing optimised control of rear brake pressure on all road surfaces and under all vehicle load conditions.
